Key Trends 2014 – 2019


Sales in the car part industry are based on vehicle production volume and the value of the components sourced. Vehicle volumes are set to see considerable growth, driven by markets in Asia, Eastern Europe and South America, despite softening in Western Europe, which will continue to trouble euro-centric operators. Demand for technology-rich vehicle content related to safety, fuel efficiency, emission reduction and connectivity should continue driving increased content per vehicle.



The growing importance of innovation, focussed around fuel-efficient and alternative engines, safety, and connectivity are becoming decisive elements in winning clients through differentiation as well as harnessing growth and highermargins through the higher technological content. Suppliers who miss the boat in terms of product and process innovation in these areas may find their position in the value chain slip; possibly moving down a tier to be coordinated by system integrators.
