Technology: For Better or For Worse

With each passing day, society is becoming more reliant on technology and entertainment devices. It is rare to run across a family that doesn’t own a cell phone, television, computer, video game console, or all four. However, there are those few that refuse to own an entertainment system. Some people might say that it is because we are losing perspective on what the natural world has to offer.  Although, most believe that these devices is what make our experiences better. One of the many concerns about society today is how we spend our free time. American society is on a steady rise in obesity. Many believe that is associated with time spent on computers, videogames, and watching television because they cause poor sleep and exercise habits, resulting in unhealthy weight. Families who refuse to own these entertainment devices, spend more time doing outdoor activities. Many children are more involved in afterschool activities. They also may make better use of their time and pick up a book. carbed food while they are doing these activities. So, by not doing anything physically straining, and taking in high calorie foods, it is inevitable that that person will gain weight. Socially, communication is very important. We want to make friends with people who will listen to our ideas, and also to keep in contact with those who are close to us. Talking is often about letting someone else understand a point of view, or about finding common ground between two differing opinions. Communication satisfies our constant...
