What are the ways does scientists use to solve probems? Is there such a thing as the“ best” way to solve a problem. It makes sense to begin your study of Integrated Science by raising some of this questions. It is our aim that this study of Science and Technology 1 will help you develop your ability to think critically in order to investigate real world problems. In this module, you will be exposed to the different steps in conducting experiments or scientific investigations. You will experience the way scientists think and do their work.

Objectives :
After reading this module and after a series of discussion the students should be able to: •develop scientific process skills in solving problems in the laboratory and in daily life; •demonstrate desirable scientific, analytical and critical-thinking attitudes and values; •identify the basic concept/s of scientific method ;identify /define the problem, gathering data, formulation and testing of hypothesis, making the conclusion and its verification. •integrate the acquired knowledge, attitudes and skills in conducting a guided investigation •apply the scientific method to your problem in decisions to be made.

2.1Scientists Solve Problems in Different Ways?
Problem solving is the essence of scientific investigations. Students are given a problem or they identify a problem, then they follow the guidelines of problem based learning (PBL) to solve in the problem. As they follow the investigative process, they use the science process skills which are the methods and procedures of scientific investigation. Problem solving relies heavily on the effective use of the science process skills by students to complete an investigation. Problem based learning, like problem solving, also relies on the proper use of the science process skills by students to solve problems. What is problem solving?

Problem Solving- The process of working through details of a problem to reach a solution. Problem solving may include mathematical or systematic operations and can be a gauge of an individual's critical thinking skills. Is there such a thing as the best way to solve a problem?

The answer to this question may vary with the situation. The important thing is for people to observe keenly and ask the right question at the right time. You must have noticed that many people accept as truth what they see, hear, or read. They make conclusions solely based on that information and without verifying the source of that infoermation. More often than not, this attitude gives rise to misunderstanding and problems. How do scientists solve problems?
